Terms of Service
Last updated: June 7, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the YouTube Transcripts API (“the Service”). By creating an account or using the API, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service
The Service provides programmatic access to YouTube video transcripts, including native caption retrieval, speech-to-text fallback, translation, and related discovery endpoints. Features and limits may change over time.
Accounts and API keys
- You must provide a valid email and verify it before using the API.
- You are responsible for keeping your API keys and credentials confidential and for all activity under your account.
- One person or entity per account; do not share credentials.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to infringe copyright or other rights, or in violation of YouTube’s or any third party’s terms.
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit accounting, or access controls.
- Resell or redistribute raw API access in a way that competes with the Service without authorization.
- Use the Service for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes.
Content and copyright
Transcripts are derived from third-party YouTube content. You are responsible for ensuring your use of any transcript complies with applicable copyright law and the rights of the content owner. The Service does not grant you any rights to the underlying video content.
Credits and billing
- Usage is metered in credits. Each successful transcript, translation, or discovery call consumes credits as described in the documentation and pricing pages.
- Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis until cancelled.
- Prices and credit allotments may change with notice for future billing periods.
Service availability and disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. Transcript availability depends on third parties (YouTube, speech-to-text providers) and may be incomplete, delayed, or unavailable. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or profits arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in the three months preceding the claim.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that we reasonably believe pose a security or abuse risk. You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
